Jerry has positively impacted thousands lives as an inspiring author, national speaker, pastor, counselor and educator.His encouraging message of hope, joy, and love is for everyone – people who are discouraged, need a second chance, or dealing with the stress and daily challenges of life.
As a successful author, Jerry is known for sharing real-world personal experiences and connecting them with life-changing stories and lessons of faith – all mixed with a heavy dose of humor.
After earning a degree in Education from Radford University and a Master’s Degree in Counseling from Virginia Tech he spent many years in public education as a teacher, counselor, coach, and school administrator. Jerry also founded a nationally recognized training and speaking organization and traveled throughout the United States as a trainer and motivational speaker – helping people reach their God-given potential.
He has served community and faith-based organizations in many capacities and has been a leader in churches, as a layperson and pastor. Jerry has been actively involved with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes for over 3 decades and is a current member of the FCA Metro Board at Virginia Tech.
Jerry has a passion for helping, loving and serving people in need and volunteers regularly at the Agape Center NRV – a ministry dedicated to mentoring and providing food, clothing, and support to people experiencing physical, emotional and spiritual challenges in their life. He also teaches a weekly class to inmates at a jail, based on his book, ‘Good News You Can Use’. Additionally, he serves on the Board of Directors of My Brothers’ Crossing, an international prison and jail ministry, through which he helps people who are incarcerated at state prison correctional facilities.
Jerry and his wonderful wife, Lucy, live in Radford, Virginia with their Great Pyrenees dog, Deja. They are both die-hard Virginia Tech Hokie fans and enjoy spending time with their two grown sons, two daughters-in-law, and five grandchildren.
